Poem Town CoverPoem Town---19bEEEE

On Memorial Day in 2007, I rose early and drove to Tunbridge, Vermont, a small farming community about fifteen miles from my home. Later in the day there would be ceremonies and speeches and color guards, but I wanted to capture something on this quiet day of remembrance for those sons and daughters who left home to serve and never came back. These photographs then, are an attempt to glimpse what Thornton Wilder so eloquently evokes through Emily's look back to life in 'Our Town.' Commonplace moments and events are limned with gold. . . seen aright, nothing is ordinary. I began my morning at 5AM on back roads, went to the cemetery, and finished up at the Ware Farm on Monarch Hill, returning home at 9:30.
